Paul Crocombe was an inspirational teacher for 38 years, a loving father and husband, an avid sportsman and a true gentleman.

Sport was at the heart of Paul’s life. Although he was incredibly talented, he preferred playing down his achievements and was arguably most comfortable passing his own skills on as a coach and teacher to hundreds of inspired children.

He was selfless, enthusiastic, admired and any child who was taught by him, remembers his encouragement, passion, love of shorts and genuine happiness in seeing his pupils excel.

It was through one of his children, Peter, that Sport in Mind first became aware of Paul. Peter called us in February 2020, to tell us that tragically, his beloved Dad had taken his own life.

In memory of his Dad, Peter ran an ultra-marathon and so began a journey which has seen the Crocombe Family and their friends raise nearly £70,000 for Sport in Mind.

With the family’s blessing, we’ve now launched the MR CROCOMBE LEGACY in Paul’s name. The aim is for every child and young person to transition into adulthood with enhanced understanding of mental health problems and the benefits sport and physical activity can have on their mental well-being.

We’re honoured to be delivering this project in partnership with the Crocombe Family, and we know Paul would be wholeheartedly behind everything we’re trying to achieve.

Any donations to the Mr. Crocombe Legacy will go directly into supporting our numerous projects focused around the mental health of children, young people, and their families.

Thank you so much for your help - together we make a huge difference to people's lives!
