Sport in Mind – Yoga Volunteer


Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing and is believed to have originated over 5,000 years ago in India. Over time, yoga has varied and as a result classes can be found all over the world and it is practiced by people from all walks of life.

Our yoga sessions are designed with an emphasis on mindfulness and relaxation to positively enhance mental health, as well as on physical wellbeing.

As a result, it is essential that any of our yoga volunteers have an appreciation and understanding of yoga and the boost it can have to both physical and mental wellbeing. Previous experience working in mental health is desirable.

As a volunteer at one of or yoga sessions, your duties & responsibilities may include:

  • Welcoming participants to the session in a friendly and calm manner
  • Laying out mats, blocks and any other aids or equipment required
  • Quietly assisting the session leader and offering advice to participants when required
  • Helping the session leader to provide a safe, supported and welcoming environment for our attendees
  • Tidying up after the session and making sure all equipment is stored safely

We are currently looking for volunteers at the following yoga sessions: 

Chesham - Douglas McMinn Centre, 106A High Street, Chesham HP51DG - Thursdays 11.30AM - 12.30PM (Starting 5th March
