Support our work Volunteering Volunteering at a Walk Sport in Mind - Walk Volunteer Walking is by far the most popular physical activity in the UK and one of the most common ways for people to access exercise and the mental and physical health benefits are well-documented. Our Sport in Mind Walks are designed to be accessible to all levels of walkers, so all levels of volunteers are welcome. You don’t need to be the next Alfred Wainwright to come along and get involved! These sessions are among our most social sessions so the ability to engage with, listen to and encourage participants is essential. As a Sport in Mind Walk Volunteer, you could be asked to complete several duties: Welcome participants with a friendly and approachable manner Be flexible in your speed, be prepared to go at the participant’s pace Encouraging participants and chat as you go along the walk Conduct occasional headcounts We are currently looking for Walk volunteers at the following sessions: Reading - Reading Minster Church - Fridays 12-12.45 Thatcham - Nature Discovery Centre - Starting in the New Year!
