Running is my therapy, sport can help your mental health too!

I will be running a minimum of 10km + every day in August starting with a 50km Ultra Marathon on the 1st August to raise awareness of the mental health issues we all face and in particular those of the Black, Asian and Minority ethnic community. My aim is to highlight the benefits running and physical activity has, on both physical and mental health and to raise money for Sport in Mind. These funds will enable this small charity to offer more people the opportunity to have fun, companionship and improve their physical and mental wellbeing through activity.

I am a Berkshire based mental health practitioner, born in West Africa and grew up in the UK. Running is more than a hobby to me, it is my therapy, allowing me to reflect and prepare mentally, psychologically spiritually, emotionally, and physically, for each day.

I have chosen to fundraise for Sport in Mind, as I have followed them for several years and been impressed with how people’s recovery has benefited from participating in their weekly sessions. I have referred many people to their services too and have seen the impact first-hand.

Berkshire NHS Trust who encourage their staff to look after their wellbeing through sport too will also be supporting me with this huge challenge too, thank you all for your support!

Please help me to build awareness and funds to support this local charity, thank you! 😊
