Hello and welcome to our society! We are a University society run by Sport In Mind that offers free sport sessions. We welcome any students with mental health difficulties or those that wish to indulge in some stress relief throughout the University year.

Our sessions run throughout the academic year:

  • Autumn term: 14th October - 13th December
  • Spring term: 13th January - 20th March (no sessions reading week 17-23rd February)
  • Summer term: 20th April - 26th June

Here is our current timetable:

At the sessions, volunteers have a variety of jobs. Sometimes they will need to assist in setting up and clearing up equipment. The main role of the volunteers is to participate in the sessions, so service users have someone to play the sports with, however sometimes the service users just fancy a chat whilst observing the session. The sessions are relaxed and can differ week by week, depending on the needs of the service users.

If you would like to volunteer at the sessions, please email Calum at [email protected] to arrange taster sessions and any necessary checks.

What people say:
Before I started playing tennis with Sport in Mind I was a total beginner, I was also very inactive because of my anxiety disorder. But now I have more confidence and a wonderful group of friends. I am also eating better and have begun to lose a lot of weight. The coaches are very considerate of my mental health needs and are supportive. Tennis has helped me cope as I came off my antidepressants and I have developed a sustainable lifestyle because of it.”  University of Reading Student
