Sport in Mind are incREDibly excited to announce that RED January have chosen us as their official charity partner for 2021! 

RED January is a nationwide initiative that encourages people, of all abilities, to get active every day during January to beat the blue away. More than 50% of all RED January participants in 2020 experienced reduced levels of stress and depressive symptoms as a result of their increased physical activity. January is a characteristically tough month and RED January provides a brilliant opportunity to get out, get active and build good habits for the rest of the year! 

“I was inspired to start RED January after witnessing the transformative effect that regular exercise had on my mum’s mental health. By providing a free event for all fitness abilities, we believed we could encourage people like my Mum to support their mental health by building movement into their daily lives,” said Hannah Beecham, CEO and Founder of RED January and RED Together.

“January seemed like the perfect month for such an initiative, providing an opportunity to kick-start the year in a positive way. It’s a time when many are setting new goals, are low on funds and motivation, with less social occasions to keep us connected. I am delighted to have found a charity, Sport in Mind, which fits perfectly with RED January as getting active can help with your physical and mental health,” she added.

Sport in Mind's founder, Neil Harris said: “With the recent impact of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, we have been unable to offer all the sessions we usually would, however RED January gives us the opportunity to encourage everyone to stay active during this time. We are excited to be the official charity partner this year and hope we can help motivate everyone to move daily and improve their physical and mental wellbeing throughout January and beyond.”

Sport in Mind would like to encourage EVERYONE, whether you are an individual, business, school, college, employer, sports club (or anything else!), to get involved with RED January to support their mental health and also help fundraise to support our life-changing work. You can even create a Team if you are a fan of a little friendly competition...
