I am keenly aware of the importance of raising awareness of mental health. I have at times struggled with my emotional well being and have found that participating in regular sporting activity has been a major influence in helping me to improve and maintain my positive well-being. I have sadly lost a close friend in my sporting community recently, who was struggling with their mental health. I want to raise awareness around mental health and the stigma that is attached. I want to contribute to raising awareness that support is out there and it is “ok to not be ok” and ask for support and make mental health something that people do not feel unable to talk about openly.
