For Sport in Mind’s 10th Anniversary, we are going to do something slightly different with this edition of the Keeping You in the Game blog.

Everyone at Sport in Mind just wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has ever attended, volunteered, delivered a session, fundraised, endorsed, promoted, donated, supported, or done anything to help raise awareness of the benefits of physical activity on our mental health.

From humble beginnings back in 2011, Sport in Mind has become the UK’s leading mental health sports charity and supported the recovery of over 16,000 people experiencing mental health problems.

None of what we do would be possible without the passion and enthusiasm of those who have taken the ethos and message of the charity to heart and aided both their own, and the recovery of those around them and in their local communities. We are constantly blown away by the support we receive and cannot wait to see what we, together, can achieve in the next 10 years.

To our wonderful coaches,

Thank you for allowing us to utilise your amazing skill sets to deliver sessions that fun, safe, and welcoming. Without your tireless organising and problems-solving skills, and ability to make our activities fun, accessible, and adaptable – our attendees simply wouldn’t get the benefit they do from your sessions. Your knowledge to make your sessions flexible and welcoming to all never ceases to amaze us and we are so grateful to have you on board!

To our amazing volunteers,

Thank you for giving up your time each week – you are the engine that keeps Sport in Mind’s wheels turning and without your enthusiasm, friendly natures, and warmth we wouldn’t be able to deliver our sessions with our usual ethos. We really cannot understate how grateful we are that you choose to give your time to support our service – it is an honour to work with such kind and generous individuals. You play a massive part in making sure all of our sessions are so focused on the attendee and that everyone gains the maximum benefit from attending!

SiM volunteer and ambassador Val!

To our superb fundraisers,

For a small charity like Sport in Mind, every penny matters and that is why we want to thank each and every person who has fundraised for us over the last 10 years. We will never stop being amazed by the feats that you are accomplish, or by the kindness and selflessness of your efforts. All of the money you have raised has gone straight into providing our sessions and made a huge positive difference to the lives of people experiencing mental health problems. You are all superstars, and we can’t thank you enough!

To our enthusiastic supporters,

We’ve been honoured to receive your support over the last decade, we get so excited every time someone wants to raise awareness and help us grow our service – so you’ll have to forgive us for some of our over-enthusiastic emails over the years! It is just so brilliant to see companies, organisations, sports clubs, fellow charities, and fantastic individuals buy into the work that we do. A massive thank you to each and every one of you, we can’t wait to keep working with you moving forward and continuing aiding people local to you, and eventually across the whole of the UK (fingers crossed!).

The amazing Tim Henman and Lucy Shuker!

And finally - To our inspirational attendees,

You are the lifeblood of our charity and always the focus of what we do. It is humbling and awe-inspiring to be able to work with you – we are privileged to work with such an incredible group of people, and it is brilliant to see you grow in confidence and to be able to play a part in your recovery. Thank you for choosing our sessions and we cannot wait to have our full compliment of sessions back up and running!

It really has been a fantastic decade, and while it may sound cliché – we honestly couldn’t do it without you. It has been incredible to work with and meet you all over the years – I suppose all that is left to say is thank you, Happy 10th Anniversary Sport in Mind and here's to the next decade!
